Lloyd A Buddy Turman Endowment
This endowment provides scholarship(s) to a 4th year, 5th year, or graduate accounting student attending the University of Florida.
As CEO and Executive Director of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) for almost three decades, Lloyd A. “Buddy” Turman demonstrated an untiring commitment and passion for the public accounting profession in Florida and across the country. Turman joined the Institute in 1973 as its first continuing professional education administrator. Three years later, he became executive director. Turman retired from the FICPA on June 30, 2005.
Turman graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism and communications and was a two-time letterman on the university’s football team. He is a Certified Association Executive and past president of the University of Florida Alumni Association. Accounting Today, a national industry publication, recognized Turman as one of the nation’s 100 most influential people in accounting 10 times since the award was begun in 1993.
In November 2004, the endowment was established to recognize Turman for his over 30 years of service to the FICPA.
